Gindiri, Plateau.
The College of Education, Gindiri, Plateau State is a state owned tertiary institution established vide Plateau Stae Edict No. 26 of 1980 when the then government of late Chief Solomon Daushep Lar deemed it expedient floating a second college of education in the then Plateau State (with the first being the College of Education, Akwanga). Under the affiliation of the Institute of Education, Ahmadu bello University, Zaria, the College took off on a temporary site thereby sharing facilities with the then Gindiri teachers College (now COCIN Comprehensive College, Gindiri). It was not until after close to two decades that phased the movement to its permanent site at the sleeping village of Nagwak, located west of Gindiri town. At inception, the college operated the division system today replaced with schools. Two academic Divisions; those of science and humanities constituted the major academic structure. With just a handful of departments, student and staff both academic and non-academic at inception. The institution has grown over the years in population size with infrastructure and facilities growing at an incommensurate rate to become a vibrant and respectable institution producing holistic pre-service professional teachers that meet the core values and expectations of the education industry for the service of humanity and overall national development.
