Mayor Garcia Silva 825, 1st floor, Morón.
The Morón Diocesan School of Social Service was created on February 2, 1964 by decree of the Bishop of Morón, who was Mons. Miguel Raspanti at the time. In April of that same year, the first year of the career was inaugurated, with 14 students enrolled, in facilities provided by the Casa de la Caridad de Morón. On May 14, 1965, its own facilities were opened at 825 Manuel J. García de Morón street. A resolution of the Honorable Superior Council of the Argentine Catholic University of December 22, 1965, approved the annexation of the EDSS to said university. The Ministry of Culture and Education of the Nation recognized, in Provision No. 192 of 1969, said annexation and the authorization to grant the title of Social Worker, as a university degree. By Ministerial Resolution No. 1318 of October 4, 1976, the transfer of the annexation of this School to the University of Morón was authorized. On May 28, 1982, by Ministerial Resolution No. 648, the Bachelor of Social Service was authorized as a postgraduate degree. However, as of 1996 and in accordance with the curriculum reform approved by Ministerial Resolution No. 1230 of 1992, the bachelor's degree awarded by the EDSS is Bachelor of Social Service. Motivations and Purposes In the recitals of the creation decree, the motivations that gave rise to the EDSS are explicit: - The need to complete the charitable work carried out by the Church of Morón, providing technically competent professionals for the various care fields required by the complexity of the social problem of Greater Buenos Aires; - the importance of having social workers trained in Christian values, given the importance of the work of human promotion that they carry out; - The requirement of scientific and technical knowledge that modern Social Service entails and that requires systematic training that transmits all of this knowledge; - the lack of a university course in Social Service in the entire western area of Greater Buenos Aires. The EDSS was born as a response to the social needs of a particularly difficult reality such as that of the Buenos Aires urban complex, called Greater Buenos Aires. It also meant the effort to complete the social action of the Morón Bishopric that had been developing assistance and promotional responses to the growing demands of the poor in its territory.
