Pioneer! This is how we can summarize the history of the Dom Bosco Catholic University, which is the result of a Salesian dream. If today UCDB provides scientific, technical and cultural training, trains high-level human resources and seeks internationally recognized standards of excellence, this is the result of a persevering journey. The seed to become what it is today, a reference in education and elected several times the best private university in the region, was planted in 1961, when the first higher education center in the then State of Mato Grosso was born, the Dom Aquino College of Philosophy. Sciences and Letters (FADAFI). However, thinking about the development of the city of Campo Grande and the state, the Salesian Mission of Mato Grosso increased the offer of courses, noting the need to train professionals in different areas: in 1965, it created the Faculty of Law (FADIR); then, in 1970, the Faculty of Economic Sciences, Accounting and Administration (FACECA) emerged and, in 1972, the Faculty of Social Service (FASSO). The dream of being a University was getting closer and closer and, to reach the goal, the Salesians gathered all the faculties into one, starting the Faculdades Unidas Católicas de Mato Grosso (FUCMT) by Opinion nº 1.907/76, approved by the Federal Board of Education. Between 1986 and 1989, the Coordination of Planning, Evaluation, Research and Extension prepared the Consultation Letter to the Ministry of Education, a document that officially sought to transform the then Faculdades Unidas Católicas of Mato Grosso into a university. With the opinion of the Ministry of Education and Culture in 1991, the "Institution Monitoring Phase" began, to prove its academic-administrative maturity. As everything went well, on October 27, 1993, by Ordinance No. 1547, of the MEC, the Faculdades Unidas Católicas de Mato Grosso (FUCMT) became the current Universidade Católica Dom Bosco (UCDB).
