Since the creation of the Escola de Aprendizes Artífices do Espírito Santo, in 1909, until its transformation into the Federal Institute of Espírito Santo, the institution has been a reference in education in Espírito Santo society. Result of the union of the units of the Federal Center for Technological Education and the Federal Agrotechnical Schools, in 2008, Ifes promotes public professional education of excellence, integrating teaching, research and extension, for the construction of a democratic, fair and sustainable society. The Federal Institute of Espírito Santo offers from technical courses to doctorate and has more than 36 thousand students. There are 100 technical courses, 63 undergraduate courses, 30 postgraduate courses at the specialization and improvement level, 11 master's degrees and 1 professional doctorate. With 22 campuses in operation, including the Reference Center for Training and Distance Education - Cefor, Ifes is present in all micro-regions of Espírito Santo. The Institute also has 49 distance education centers in Espírito Santo, the Innovation Hub and the Innovation City. The Federal University of Espírito Santo is a federal university with headquarters in the city of Vitória, capital of Espírito Santo state, in Brazil. UFES is the largest higher education institution in the Brazilian state of Espirito Santo and is located in the city of Vitoria.
