Universidade Federal do Pampa, Unipampa (Federal University of Pampa) was created by the Federal Government with the aim of reducing the economic and social stagnation process in that region. By offering 64 undergraduate courses and 13 graduate programs, it focuses not only on making real possibilities to the local population but also bringing students from all over the country to join its growing structure, strongly committed to research, teaching and outreach activities. Unipampa integrates the expansion program for federal universities in Brazil. A Technical Cooperation Agreement funded among Ministério da Educação (Education Ministry), Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (Federal University of Santa Maria – UFSM) and Universidade Federal de Pelotas (Federal University of Pelotas – UFPel), which predicts the development of Higher Education in the southern half region of Rio Grande do Sul.
