The Workforce Development Authority (WDA) and Rwanda Nationa Police (RNP) established, through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), a point of confluence in their respective interests in the field of training & skilling of the Rwandan labour force. It is in this context that IPRC Gishari, formerly Gishari Integrated Polytechnic (GIP) was created in 2013. Both institutions agreed to make this the principal focus of their partnership to the extent that training will be offered in the IPRC Gishari, targeting both the staff of the RNP and the civilian population at large. Training partnership that can take place in other TVET institutions. The establishment of the facility was also to expand access to technical skills and knowledge to Rwandan community in line with the Government policies (EDPRS and NEP) to achieve the broad vision of “Vision 2020” and National Strategy for Transformation. The school opened its doors on March 18th, 2013 and was officially launched on November 28th, 2013. From 2017, IPRC Gishari is governed under Rwanda Polytechnic Higher Learning Institution. This institution was established by the law N° 22/2017 of 30/05/2017 which determnes its Mission, Powers, Organisation and Functioning. Currently, IPRC Gishari offers two main programmes namely Advanced Diploma Programme and Vocational Training Programme.
