The Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu came into existence under the then East Central State of Nigeria Edict No 10 of 1973 promulgated by the Administrator of East Central State – Ajie Ukpabi Asika. Prior to the establishment of this great institute, in existence were the College of Technology which offered courses in Engineering and Laboratory Technology leading to the award of Ordinary Diploma; the Institute of Administration which provided short in-service training of various grades; and the Co-operative College which offered a certificate course in Co-operative Studies to Co-operative inspectors from the ministry. The Institute of Management and Technology, Enugu is dedicated to the growth of technological education and the promotion of the core academic and social values needed to produce highly qualified graduates who possess the capabilities required to best serve humanity in science, technology, management, finance and creative arts. It is our mission: – To present to all who seek higher education, a well-grounded technological institution that collaborates with similar national organizations to drive the technological growth of Nigeria; – To produce self-motivated, innovative and creative graduates who possess the training and skills needed to turn the wheels of industry, raise the bar in management and finance, and expand the frontiers of technology and creative arts at all levels; – To equip our graduates with the virtues of hard work, diligence and sound ethical conduct that will enable them to compete and succeed in the marketplaces of skills and professional competence; and – To serve as a reference point in the area of quality technological education, building viable careers, transforming lives via quality education, creating rewarding opportunities for staff and students, and raising aspirations through a socially responsible agenda.
