The Proprietor of Kings University is the King’s Ministries Trust A.K.A. Kingsway International Christian Centre (KICC) which is a Protestant Evangelical Ministry. Kings University was granted a provisional license by the Federal Government of Nigeria through the National Universities Commission on March 4, 2015, and commenced academic activities on February 1, 2016. However, prior to the commencement of academic activities, an Implementation Committee (IPC) was put in place under the Chairmanship of Prof. Sola Akinrinade, the former and pioneer VC, Osun State University to develop a strategic plan for the institution. Academic Programmes at Kings University took off at the temporary site of the University located at Km 7 Gbongan - Oshogbo Road, with adequate human, physical and material resources. At inception in 2016, the number of academic and non-academic staff is 67, while the first set of matriculated students were 88. The University has graduated two sets of graduates to date.
