Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design (KNUTD) is a multi-disciplinary educational, research and innovation complex with a well-developed infrastructure and modern material and technical base, which provides multilevel training for qualified specialists in various fields. The University is a leader in the area of training specialists for the branches of light and chemical industry, fashion industry, business, artistic and technical modeling and design of industrial products, arts, economics, consumer services, law etc. It is one of the oldest technological institutions of higher education in Ukraine. The University has a number of unique scientific schools recognized both in Ukraine and abroad that carry out scientific and innovation activities. Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design was founded on April 17, 1930, by the order of the Supreme Council of National Economy № 1240 as the Institute of Leather Industry. The specified date can be considered as a starting point in the history of the university within the formal approach, because the research into the sources of specialist training indicates, that in fact it should be attributed to the beginning of the 19th century, when the professional training of craftsmen that produced home-made goods from leather, fur, textiles, and cooperative methods began. Consequently, this issue is waiting for more fundamental research. In 1944, the higher education institution was called Kyiv Technological Institute of Light Industry (KTILI); and in 1993 - State Academy of Light Industry of Ukraine (SALIU); in 1999 - Kyiv State University of Technologies and Design (KSUTD); in 2001 it has had the title Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design. Over these years, thousands of specialists have been trained for the economy of Ukraine and for the countries of Europe, Asia, Africa, and Latin America as well. Many prominent figures have graduated from the University: government officials and authorities of different levels, scientists, famous designers, successful executives and businessmen, specialists in various spheres of life. Currently, Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design has the IVth level of accreditation (the certificate’ term is valid until 01.07.2023.).
