Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University was founded on March 1st, 1940 as Stanislaviv Teachers Institute. The University has undergone the 4th level of accreditation and is in the list of 10 best higher education institutions of the West Ukraine. According to the international Scopus database ranking, it is the 13th in the list of more than 200 universities in Ukraine (by the number of citations). Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University teaches specialists in 64 specialties, conducts various scientific researches and carries out innovative activities. More than 140 thousand of qualified specialists have graduated from the University since it was founded. The University maintains close relations with many world scientific and educational institutions, namely, in the USA, China, and EU. It offers 11 free master programs with double diplomas in the leading Universities of Poland Within the European program Еrasmus+ КА2 the University has received grant funds for 4 projects. In the project MoPED – “Modernization of Pedagogical Higher Education by Innovative Teaching Instruments” the University was the first to receive the grant in Ukraine. Within the European program Erasmus+ KA1 the University works on 9 programs of academic mobility of students and teachers. In the University there is an educational-scientific Laboratory of Physics of Magnetic Recording held together with H.V. Kurdyumov Institute of Metal Physics of the NAS of Ukraine. The laboratory is of the National status in Ukraine. 1st place SciMago Institutions Rankings 2019 1st place Rating of higher education institutions in Ivano-Frankivsk 7th place Rating "The best universities in the western region of Ukraine."
