St Luke’s College of Nursing and Midwifery was established in 1972. Its goal on inception was to train nurses for its hospital and health centers, but today, due to the national demands and trends of development, both its mission and goal have changed. The initial enrollment at the college was as low as 6 per annum, but recently it has grown gradually to over 150 in 2017. This has also seen an increase in numbers for both academic and administrative staff. Way back since its inception up to four years ago the college was entirely under the management of the hospital. Only the academic staff was specific to the college. Initially only a handful formal training in nursing education rather was nurses and nuns doing this from practical experience view. In 1993 there was only one tutor running all the college activities which included classroom, clinical instruction and administrative duties, in collaboration with the hospital administrator. Since then the college has developed from having one tutor to thirty four in 2017. The college has also employed over 50 administrative staff.
