The Polytechnic Igbo-Owu, Kwara State, Nigeria is a Federal Republic of Nigeria approved and licensed private tertiary institution with Quality Assurance through teaching, learning and research. With the belief that education is any act or experience that has a formative effect on the mind, character or physical ability of an individual. In its technical sense, education is the process by which society deliberately transmits its accumulated knowledge, skills and values from one generation to another. Robert Hutchings has this to say about education: “The object of education is to prepare the young to educate themselves throughout their lives”. It would therefore be reasoned that, the more we learn, the more prepared we are to tackle the challenges that the future holds. As a progressive institution, the polytechnic Igbo-Owu seeks to foster the growth and development of its immediate community and the nation at large through teaching, creative expression and public service. Through its collaborative efforts, the Polytechnic timely responds to the needs of all its constituents and offer educational programs and services to improve the quality of life in its catchment area. In summary, the key mission of the Polytechnic Igbo-Owu therefore is: “To educate our students to become outstanding in the society and to empower each individual we train, with knowledge and opportunity to contribute responsibly and creatively to a complex world”.
