Founded by Rev Dr Uma Ukpai, president of Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Assoc. Inc, Uma Ukpai Polytechnic was established as a centre of excellence and research to educate, train and become the citadel of innovation for the growing Nigerian economy. The goal of Government is to produce from the tertiary institutions, a crop of new graduates equipped with the skills to generate enterprises for their self employment and to employ others. Creation of Centres of Excellence and the centres will be in, Engineering, Agriculture, Computing and Information Technology, Fashion Design and Arts and Sports
