University of Magallanes (UMAG) is located in Punta Arenas, Magellanes, Chile. It is locally known as Universidad de Magallanes. The university was established in 1961. It is accredited by Consejo Superior de Educación, Chile. The University of Magallanes is a public, state and geographically isolated higher education institution, oriented to the continuous training of technicians, professionals and postgraduates, as well as in research, creation of knowledge and connection with the environment, in and from Subantarctic Patagonia, and Chilean Antarctica. The University of Magallanes hopes to be a benchmark in higher education processes, as well as in the cultivation and management of knowledge from the particularities of Subantarctic Patagonia, and Chilean Antarctica, contributing with social responsibility to sustainable development and people's quality of life.
